FUNCI participates in the II World Forum on Urban Violence and Education for Coexistence and Peace, which will take place from November 5th to 8th, in the Matadero, in Madrid.
This Forum was launched in 2017 in Madrid and intends to become an annual event for the commitment of cities with peace. It was conceived as a meeting place between local leaders, international networks and organisms, academias, ONGD, and other elements of civil society, with the purpose of finding solutions to suppress violence from cities. In fact, local authorities have a growing frame of action to prevent and transform conflicts and reduce violence. A good example of this is the New Spanish Urban Agenda and the Objectives for a Sustainable Development, in which the cities are a key element.
FUNCI participated in the I World Forum on Urban Violence and Education for Coexistence and Peace with the exhibition “Islam, a common heritage”, and the stand “Mayrit, a bridge for peace”, which were very well received. In this second edition, FUNCI increases its collaboration with this important with a stand and the workshop “Salam, from Mayrit to the Mediterranean”. Its goal is to advocate for the adequacy of Madrid as a city promoter of dialogue and coeistence, given its Islamic origin and its cultural link to the Mediterranean.
