Next 3rd and 4th March, 2020, the 14th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference will take place in Doha (Qatar), under the title “Religions and Hate Speech… Practice and Scriptures”. The meeting will count with the participation of Encarna Gutiérrez, Secretary General of the Islamic Culture Foundation (FUNCI) and coordinator of the project Twistislamophobia.
This 14th International Conference is organized by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DCID), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and it will revolve around three related areas: Hate Speech (causes, drivers and risks), Types and Forms of Hate Speech, and Desired Actions for Combating Hate Speech. The aim of the Conference is to analyze the link between the rise of international terrorism, religious radicalism, and the way some actors and narratives make use of this elements to promote hate speech, racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia.
The Conference will gather a wide range of international experts, scholars, and institutions focusing in the study and the fight against hate speech. The Islamic Culture Foundation will contribute to this meeting through its on-the-ground experience in the fight against Islamophobia and hate speech through education.
