In the Arabic Language Day 2015

At FUNCI we want to celebrate the Arabic Language Day with a short reflection on the word “Salam”, in a moment as turbulent as this. “Salam” means Peace. Its roots (s-l-m) can be found in many other words as “Muslim”, “Islam” and “As salamu aleikum”, the expression used among Muslims to great each other, and that literally means “Peace be upon you”.

This idea is present in all these terms. Islam doesn’t only means submission to God, but submission to God in order to achieve personal, spiritual and social peace. Peace for oneself and for his surroundings, which guarantees a more harmonious World.

We want to share with you this beautiful illustration of our designer, Olga Péres, and a song of Sami Yusuf:
As salamu aleikum
