The Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures (to wich the Islamic Culture Foundation belongs), in co-operation with the Research and Development Centre-Intercollege in Nicosia-Cyprus, invites young youth workers and teachers from Mediterranean and EU member states to participate in a Training Course on Cultural Conflicts Resolution and Project Development from 19 to 24 February 2007 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Objectives

This training aims at :

Creating a team of qualified experts and trainers that can support the civil society in their country and in particular ALF networks. The training schemes should have a multiplier effect generating Human Resources that can help mainly members of the ALF network to develop project  in the field of intercultural Dialogue and Conflict Resolution.

Promoting intercultural dialogue as a pre-requisite for settlement of conflicts for the development of a “culture of peace”.

Raising the awareness about different aspects of conflict and the nature of causes and consequences.

Working in inter-cultural teams and share ideas to discuss possible means of developing and implementing projects with a Euro-Mediterranean perspective applying the 2+2 formula.

Programme

55 young civil society workers and teachers from 25 EU countries and 10 Mediterranean countries will meet in Nicosia for six days. The course will seek to develop the competencies of youth workers and teachers on project development and will be introduced to methods and tools of conflict resolutions through a simulation game. Young workers and teachers will discuss current conflicts in “working groups”. Each working group will draft a common resolution, which will be debated with all participants. Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to conduct group meetings for networking.
