“Justice is half of faith”.
“All human beings are like the teeth of a comb” (in terms of equality)
These “hadith” or statements attributed to the Prophet Muhammad makes clear what Islam believes in human rights. However, the notions of justice, fairness and equality are universal and the same for everyone, both from religious or secular point of view. This is what the Arab riots are proving during these weeks.
From FUNCI, we support all peaceful expressions of Arab and Muslim people in their legitimate claim for higher levels of democracy, dignity and equitable distribution of wealth. We strongly condemn all forms of violence against them and we urge the international community to uphold these goals and to assume their part of historical responsibility in this situation.
Democracy is a universal right.
